Are you part of a clique?
Posted by Brett in Youth News on August 10th, 2009
As we head into this new year of youth, I want to briefly re-address the issue of cliques? Are you in a clique? Many times we don’t realize when we are being stand-offish to others. Sure we all have our favorite friends that are at youth, but do you only spend time with those people at youth meetings? Do you make an effort to include others in your conversations? Is it always just 2 or 3 of you doing stuff together?
It’s natural to gravitate toward those people we are most like, but Christ told us to be welcoming to everyone. This applies, especially at youth group! Next time at youth, you and your “group” should make an effort to include at least 2 other people into your conversations or make sure you all don’t end up on the same team for games.
You never know when someone at youth is in dire need of a good friend, and you may never notice if you are too involved with the same small group of people all the time.
